Countries of the World

Date Added: January 09, 2009 03:09:52 PM

Though various sources would answer this question differently, 195 is the general consensus in relation to the number of countries in the world. These are divided among 7 continents. The seven continents are North America, South America, Africa, Europe, Asia, Antarctica, and Australia.

Different countries follow different culture and traditions. Their religion can be different and so can be their natives. Generally, you would find some homogeneity in a particular continent. For instance, most of the European countries follow catholic or protestant Christianity. They belong to the Caucasian race. They have similar rights of baptism, marriage and funeral. They eat same kind of food (usually high on junk) and follow same pattern of education. Similarly, you would see such homogeneity in Africa or Asia as well.

Each country has a capital. For instance, the capital of Italy is Rome. It also has a ruling political party. A country shall have its independent judiciary, legislative and executive. Moreover, it shall have an army. The idea is to be an independent entity that is completely autonomous. Countries can either have a president or prime minister as its political head. Few countries can also have monarchs or dictators as their lord power.
