News: How It Has Changed

Date Added: May 06, 2008 04:34:42 PM

News is important information or any information at all on current events. The news is spread to millions of people through the use of Internet, television and radio broadcasts, and print (newspapers).

Before any news can be published all the facts must be gathered and proven. That is why reporters will investigate the leads that they have and will go around and ask the necessary questions. This helps to ensure that they are telling people the truth and not spreading any false rumors.

There are dozens of different topics that fall under the category of news and which are reported on every day. Murders, sports, society, business, and entertainment are some of the most common topics that people are interested in. The weather is also a news topic (though many do not know this) and is one of the most important. We won’t know how to plan our days if we don’t know what to expect.

In the beginning gathering all of the details for a news topic was difficult and extremely primitive when compared to the things that we do today. They did not have all of the resources that are available to us and the machinery moved at a much slower pace than what we are used to.
For example in order for the news to come out on print the reporter either had to call the newsroom and tell them the story word for word while someone quickly jotted it down or they would have to bring it back themselves and type it or transmit it over the wire services that were available to them.

Today we are able to deliver the news at a fast pace. In fact it sometimes takes only a few minutes to deliver what we call “Breaking News”. Many broadcast cable news services use the best in live satellite technology in order to deliver the latest events that have transpired to millions of people around the world in a matter of minutes.

What used to take hours or even days to get to people in certain towns are now able to reach the ears of millions in an instant through cell phones, Internet, radio, and televisions.
