 There are numerous article directories on the internet today. You can submit your articles and get them published on the web site with a web site link added to the article to keep your web site advertised, and you can even leave your name as the author.

 So it all seems simple, you write an article or paid to get one wrote and send it to the site to be published, then watch the visitors come to your site right? Not really, some article directories only accept unique articles which means you would have to write a new article for every directory you submit it to, but the majority of web sites will allow you to submit your article that is already published on your own web site, although this is not a guarantee.

 The steps to putting an article into a directory are as follows:

- Look at the directory first. If they request only unique articles and they receive a low amount of visitors a day then it's probably not worth your while writing a new article for that directory. Make sure that the directories that you submit articles too are: free, receive a fair amount of traffic, and a bonus would be having a page rank.

- Check the directory itself and see if there are any articles similar to the one that you plan on submitting. See if the other one was published or denied submission as this may prevent you from being able to publish it due to the fact of them thinking it's a plagiarized copy.

- Make sure you know what category that you want your article submitted to because it will be denied if you pick the wrong one, and having it in the wrong category won't help your traffic.

- The most important thing is to read the guidelines for submitting your article. As stated before, some directories only accept unique articles while others don't have that rule.
