  Making money from your website is the ultimate goal for any aspiring webmaster. There are so many ways in which you can generate income online, that I will only briefly touch a few, and describe how various webmaster resources can assist in the battle for cash. An affiliate program is, as far as website resources go, a website that offers you the chance to host advertising on your site. To understand its place in the webmaster world, let me explain how online advertising works. There are many varying models that website ad's are based on - each being developed throughout the history of the Internet.
 
  First of all, CPC is the most popular. It stands for "cost per click", and basically means that the advertiser will pay you every time a visitor clicks on their banner or link - whatever is being advertised. The next is CPM - which requires the advertiser to pay a fixed amount of money for every thousand ad displays.
 
  Often the hardest aspect of online advertising is finding the people to do it. This is where affiliate programs come in. They provide a list of people wanting to place ads on websites, allowing you the opportunity to sell your space in return for cash.
