Authority Directories
Are they really authority websites? What is an authority website actually? Are the extra sitelinks similar with the authority status? Why these sitelinks appear just for some websites? What are they?
Questions, questions… Unfortunately I’m not able to answer and I bet there are very, very few (probably just a couple of Google employees) able to answer to all these questions. The purpose of this post is not to find out what is the meaning of the extra sitelinks shown on searches, but to compile a list of web directories…the so called “authority web directories”.

Since the first days when Google started to show the additional sitelinks to some websites, people called them authority sites. I’m not sure if this means these sites are indeed authorities in their niches but a thing is certain: for some reason Google see these websites being a bit different from all the others - a sort of special status.
So here it is a list of - let’s call them - authority directories. If you own or heard of another web directory which has an authority status, feel free to post here and we will be glad to add it to our list.

I’ve been submitting to www.site-sift.com for years and they have the authority status. I also send my clients to BOTW and Goguides.
Thanks, Sara!
I know Site Sift for quite a while, even used their script a few years back but for some reason I forgot about it.
